Our Line & Philosophy

Our story began in 1992, when we started as a small breeder in Northern Virginia. We've since continued the legacy of two Swiss lines that have been established for over 60 years, as they exemplified the traits we sought to build upon.

We believe that longevity, temperament, type, and intelligence are the four pillars that define proper breeding. When we first started breeding Berners, we carefully selected Swiss lines with multiple generations of Berners that lived to be 13-14 years old. We are proud to say that many of our dogs have lived for 10+ years. While Berners are typically known as gentle giants, they are still giants, and having a sound temperament is of utmost importance. We evaluate and perform temperament tests on all our puppies during their first 8 weeks of life. Our third pillar is type, which we achieve by breeding to the European standard and selecting breeding mates with correct conformation. Lastly, intelligence is something we value in our line. Our dogs have tons of personality, an excellent work ethic, are usually easy to train, and quick learners. We often joke that they have the ability to read our minds!
